Professionalism

The Health Professions Authority expects all people at every level to act in a professional manner at all times.  People are therefore required to:

  1. Discharge their responsibilities with thoroughness, competency, honest, integrity, objectivity, diligence and due care.
  1. Examine or review sufficient relevant factual information before presenting a report on any inspection conducted.
  1. Respect the confidentiality and proprietary nature of information received in the performance of their duties, refrain from using such information for personal gain and not knowingly permit any other person to use such information for personal gain.
  1. Refrain from entering into any activity that is in conflict with the interests of the Authority, and avoid activities or the acceptance of anything of value that prejudice ability to objectively discharge professional duties and responsibilities.
  1. Report organizational and individual misconduct and unlawful or unethical practices to the appropriate executive level within the Authority.
  1. Strive to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties competently and effectively.

Maintain high standards of ethical conduct and character in both professional and personal activities. People are expected to be aware of the content of all legislation, regulations and internal rules governing the execution of their duties, and to act accordingly.
