The Health Professions Authority Zimbabwe (HPA) is the apex health regulatory body in Zimbabwe whose mandate is to coordinate the functions and operations of all health professions councils in Zimbabwe, entertain appeals that relate to the same councils, while also inspecting, registering and regulating all health service providing institutions in Zimbabwe. The following vacancies has arisen in the Authority:

PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

The Public Relations Officer will report to the Public Relations Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in coordinating all public relations activities, including communicating Authority’s goals.
  2. Assist in planning promotion, publicity and campaign strategies.
  3. Assist in developing a media relations strategy.
  4. Handling media interview requests, enquiries from the public and the press.
  5. Assist in creating content for media coverage, key note addresses and presentations.
  6. Publishing news-letters and magazines, as delegated by the supervisor.
  7. Assist in organising workshops, conferences and exhibitions.
  8. Preparing publicity brochures, handouts, leaflets, promotional videos and photographs.
  9. Updating and maintaining information on the website, as delegated by supervisor.
  10. Any other duties as delegated by the Public Relations Manager.

FINANCE MANAGER

The Finance Manager will report to the Secretary General who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Initiate and implement financial policies, procedures and controls.
2. Working capital management including implementation of effective debtors management.
3. Production of both annual capital and revenue expenditure budgets.
4. Ensuring that the Authority operates sound accounting systems.
5. Production of timely monthly management accounts and quarterly board reports.
6. Setting up and implementing sound internal controls, procurement policies and procedures.

INSPECTORS  x 2

The Inspector will report to the Deputy Secretary General.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conducting inspections for the purpose of enforcing compliance with the Health Professions Act (Chapter 27:19).
2. Writing timeous inspection reports showing the actual physical situation on the ground.
3. During inspections, advising health professionals on minimum requirements.
4. Communicating professionally and efficiently when dealing with practitioners.
5. Ensuring all revenue collection stipulations are followed.
6. Ensuring strict adherence to departmental standard operating procedures.
7. Any other duties as delegated by the Deputy Secretary General.

DATA CAPTURE CLERK

The Data Capture Clerk will report to the Deputy Secretary General.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Transfer data from paper formats into computer files.
2. Type in data provided directly from practitioners.
3. Create spreadsheets without mistakes.
4. Verify data by comparing it to source documents.
5. Update existing data.
6. Retrieve data from the database and physical files as requested.
7. Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation.
8. Any other duties as delegated by the Deputy Secretary General.
